Mild Steel Plates are low-carbon steel plates that offer an excellent combination of strength, ductility, weldability, and machinability. Their versatility and cost-effectiveness make them one of the most widely used materials for structural fabrication, general engineering, manufacturing, and construction applications. Available in various thicknesses, dimensions, and specifications, Mild Steel Plates are suitable for cutting, welding, forming, and machining across numerous industrial sectors.
Triton Alloys is the world's largest ms plate supplier in India, offering an extensive range of plates in various standards, specifications, and custom dimensions. Our dedicated and specialised staff is committed to assisting customers in finding the perfect products to suit their needs. Our unparalleled speed and convenience, same-day service, and efficient order preparation set us apart as the preferred choice.
Mild steel plates are carbon steel with low carbon content (usually 0.05% to 0.25% by weight). Unlike alloy steel, these plates do not contain significant amounts of alloying elements. If the higher carbon content is added, it is classified as CI. Due to the low alloying elements and carbon levels, the ms plate exhibits several distinct properties.
These plates are known for superior ductility, weldability, and machinability compared to conventional grades. Moreover, they can be strengthened and hardened through heat treatment and quenching processes. Including carbon and some alloying elements helps block dislocations in the crystal structure, contributing to its overall strength.
Mild steel plates generally possess good tensile strength, and their iron content imparts magnetic properties. The relatively low cost and excellent machinability and weldability make these plates ideal for engineering applications.
Our plates are drawn using hot and cold drawing processes and then subjected to solution annealing for improved toughness. They also exhibit a high machine removal rate (MRR) and excellent thermal stability and potential. These plates perform exceptionally well at high temperatures. We ensure precise dimensions and surface finishes through industrial finishing processes and provide additional protection through the satin and bright black polish coatings to prevent oxidation during export.
With over 1000+ satisfied customers, Triton Alloys is a trusted supplier to various industries, including fabrication, automotive, and architectural sectors. We source our raw materials from reliable vendors and subject our products to rigorous testing, adhering to global standards to ensure their functionality in adverse environments. The extensive list of tests includes tensile, micro and macro tests, chemical analysis, hydro testing, hardness tests, non-destructive tests, and more. We also offer third-party inspections for added assurance.
To provide quality assurance, we furnish various documents, including product invoices, attested certificates by third parties, specification guides, fumigation certificates, packing lists, NABL test reports, and guarantee letters. Additional documents comprise certificates of origin, raw material test reports, mill test reports, quality assurance plans, heat treatment charts, chemical compositions, and hardness details after heat treatment.
Our standard packing procedures reflect our commitment to delivering products without damage during export. Plates are rolled into bundles and wrapped with thin plastic to prevent moisture.
MILD STEEL PLATES are the preferred choice for long-term fabrication applications, and Triton Alloys offers them competitively.

Mild Steel Sheet/Plate is a flat rolled product with a low carbon content (ranging between 0.05% to 0.25%). Those low carbon levels make them effortless to bend and weld, so that's why they're used in structural and fabrication work.
The common grades are IS 2062, ASTM A36, and S275JR. Each one fits a different job. IS 2062 is what most structural projects in India use, and ASTM A36 is the standard reference in the US and other markets.
Mild steel plates are used in building framing, storage tanks, machinery beds and the hull of a ship. They are also suitable for general fabrication use, such as brackets, enclosures, and load bearing components, as they are sufficiently strong yet still easy to form.
Yes, they are good to weld and machine. The low carbon content prevents excessive cracking during heat exposure, so you can use MIG, TIG, and stick welding without any problems. Drilling, cutting and forming can be done with standard tools.
Choosing the right plate depends on thickness, grade, and load. Structural jobs usually need higher-grade options like IS 2062, while general fabrication can get by with lower grades. Confirm size and finish with your supplier before ordering.

The durability of Mild Steel Plates depends on several factors, including the selected steel grade, operating environment, fabrication quality, surface treatment, and ongoing maintenance. In outdoor or corrosive environments, protective coatings, galvanizing, or industrial paint systems help improve corrosion resistance and significantly extend the service life of the material.
