 Application Of S355 Plates

Suitable for wide variety of structural application for instance: freight cars, transmission towers, dump trucks, cranes, trailers, bull dozers, excavators, forestry machines, railway wagons, dolphins, penstocks, pipes, highway bridges, building structures, offshore structures, shipbuilding, fans, pumps, lifting equipments and port equipments.


Ultrasonic Testing

If specified at the time of order, ultrasonic testing shall be carried out in thickness  ≥6,00mm in accordance with EN 10160.

Surface Inspection

All plates manufactured through the plate mill are inspected and defects repaired in accordance with EN 10163-2: 1991 Class A Subclass 1, unless otherwise agreed.

Certification

All material described in this data sheet is supplied with analysis and test certificates.

Grinding

Surface Grinding and Edge Grinding is available on all flame cut plates. This is carried out on a lumsden grinding rotary reciprocating table machines. After being Flamecut pieces can be ground to clean up or cut plates which can Lumsden ground to size on thickness to an tolerance of +/-0.25mm

A tighter tolerance may be possible, please provide your required tolerances when enquiring with our sales team.

Heat Treatment

S355 is not ideally suited to hardening, though it can be subjected to limited heat treatment process such as case hardening. If hardening S355 heat treatment temperatures, including rate of heating, cooling and soaking times will vary due to factors such as the shape and size of each component.,/p>

Other considerations during the heat treatment process include the type of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities. Please consult your heat treatment provider for full guidance on heat treatment of carbon steel grades.
